As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can.

Quote reblogged from The Lazy Yogi with 288 notes ()

If you know your being, there is no question of becoming. All that you could have ever imagined to become you already are. You are gods who have forgotten who they are. You are emperors who have fallen asleep and are dreaming that they have become beggars. Now beggars are trying to become emperors, in dreams they are making great efforts to become emperors, and all that is needed is to wake up!

Wonder, silence, gratitude: The world is not true. →

ashramof1:

The world is not external. Perception of the world happens spontaneously in the Self, against the unchanging background of reality, like the dream that occurs in sleep. You are that Self, not an individual, but you have forgotten about it. In fact, the individual person that appears to have…

Spiritual awakening doesn’t happen because you master some spiritual technique. There are lots of skillful meditators who are not awake. Awakening happens when you stop bullshitting yourself into continual nonawakening. It’s very easy to use disciplines to avoid reality rather than to encounter it. A true spirituality will have you continually facing your illusions and all the ways you avoid reality.

Quote reblogged from Wonder, silence, gratitude with 152 notes ()

When you come to see that you can do nothing, that the play of thought or feeling just goes on by itself as a happening, then you are in a state which we will call meditation. And slowly without being pushed, your thoughts will come to silence. That is to say, all the verbal symbolic chatter going on in the skull — don’t try and get rid of it because that will again produce the illusion that there’s a controller. It just goes on and goes on and goes on and finally gets tired of itself, gets bored and stops. And so then there’s a silence. And this is a deeper level of meditation. And in that silence you suddenly begin to see the world as it is.

Discipleship is easy for the surrendered devotee. It may be difficult for the unsurrendered. Even when we sincerely want to be surrendered, we may have difficulty. The spirit may be willing, but the flesh may be weak; our aspiration may be sincere and authentic, but our unwholesome habits, mental conditionings and false ideas may yet be influential. We may desire Self realization and have only a few personal restrictions, but continue to remain emotionally immature. To experience relative and absolute fulfillment, honestly come to terms with life in relationship to your soul inclinations.

Quote reblogged from Meditations In Wonderland with 17 notes ()

Such service can have no meaning unless one takes pleasure in it. When it is done for show or for fear of public opinion, it stunts the man and crushes his spirit. Service which is rendered without joy helps neither the servant nor the served. But all other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy.
